Jonas Andersson was transferred to Kärpät from HPK in spring 2008. The fans have welcomed him with open hearts. Andersson is fast, skilful and he has a hard shot. He is a physical forward, and he fits well in the team. Andersson is a team player and he isn’t afraid of tough situations.
This Swedish youngster left to North America when he was just 18 years old. There he played in the lower leagues. Andersson almost made it to the NHL, but then he injured his shoulder. He couldn’t play at all during season 2003-2004 because of the injury. After having spent two years in Sweden, Andersson chose the Finnish National Hockey League.
After one season in Ilves he was transferred to HPK. The first season in Hämeenlinna was a disappointment for this winger, for he was injured during most of the season. The second season was effiecient but Andersson wanted more challenges and that’s why he came to Kärpät in the middle of the season.
When Andersson joined Kärpät, he was HPK’s golden helmet player with statistics 11+13=24. In Kärpät he scored 8 (1+7) points in 13 games. The result for the whole season (in Sweden and in Finland) altogether was his best so far: 12+20=32.
